James Blake doesn’t always come through with hard-hitting production, but when he does, the sound has always been next level. Over the weekend he dropped a brand new single, “Life Is Not The Same,” which is reminiscent of his hip-hop leaning style that was prevalent on his previous 2019 album, Assume Form.
For this new haunting, Blakeian banger, he’s reached out to in-demand hip-hop producer Take A Daytrip in order to have this one pack an extra hard punch. The result is jaw-dropping, as Blake goes all out with his vocal performance here, and the commanding 808 bass line only amplifies the intensity.
“Life Is Not The Same” serves as James’ second official album single. He announced his fifth studio album, Friends That Break Your Heart, last month. That one’s out September 10.
