Joey Bada$$ dubbed April 7th "Global Hip-Hop Day," and today he has gifted us with his new politically-charged album, All-Amerikkkan Badass, to celebrate the occasion. His sophomore album brings a combination of what we're used to from his previous projects and a new style we haven't seen from him before.
While the second half of the album showcases his lyrical prowess over his usual 90's boom-bap beats, the first songs feature more singing than we've ever heard from him tapping a similar sound we heard on his lead single "Devastated". Other previously released singles "Land Of The Free" and "Rockabye Baby" featuring ScHoolboy Q all appear on the project.
The laid-back feel of those tracks and choruses are more radio-friendly than we're used to hearing from Joey, but the strong political overtones create a unique balance of pop and underground rap. The entire album production is top-notch as always, with most of it being handled by his usual crew of Statik Selektah, Kirk Knight, and Chuck Strangers. Check out the 12-track album below and enjoy!
