John Summit Says He Never Wants to Play a Main Stage Again Following Electric Zoo Performance

||, , |

John Summit is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after house DJs on the planet. Throughout his rise, he still remains completely honest and frank on his social media (another reason why his fans have become so enamored with him). On Wednesday afternoon, he shared a pretty warm take, one that he was afraid his team was going to “kill” him over.

Following his performance at Electric Zoo in New York, he said that he never wanted to play the main stage at a mainstream EDM festival ever again. It was “not a vibe,” he added.

my managers/agents gonna kill me for this but i don’t think i ever want to play the main stage at a mainstream edm festival again. not a vibe tbh

As someone who has been to countless festivals and has experienced all too many main stage crowds, it’s easy to agree with Summit here. And for a variety of reasons. Foremost, the main stage is typically where you’ll find the folks who aren’t there for the music. Summit elaborates on this more himself, saying that he has no issue with people just coming out to festivals to party but that it’s not why he DJs.

He admitted that he got “really depressed afterward” and that he would prefer not to be on a stage alongside mainstream big room acts (although he has nothing against them).

Illenium, an act that will almost always get a main stage slot, appeared in the replies to weigh in on the topic:

u also have an insanely loyal fanbase that can pack out the crowd and help weed out the fakes haha but ya that’s why i try to always do after parties too for the real sickos

also ur insane production works really well for main stage, maybe one day for me

Following the exchange, John Summit admitted that he was in his head a bit too much. It looked like Illenium’s comments reassured him a bit. It’s refreshing to see a wholesome interaction like that on EDM Twitter, which isn’t always the most hygienic place to air grievances.
