As the smooth, DIY-style of indie music continues to intermingle with the technology-driven sounds of the electronic production, Swedish producer and TSIS favorite Kasbo consistently delivers some of the most feel-good yet danceable creations we've heard. His luminous signature sound is hard to nail down to any genre, finding a mesmerizing place of his own.
2018 is shaping up to be a great year for Kasbo, as today marks the release of his debut album Places We Don’t Know. The official hype for the project began in January with the release of single “Aldrig Mer” feat. TENDER, a track that comes alive with Kasbo’s mystical production and TENDER’s soft vocals. Singles “Your Tempo” and “Over You” feat. Frida Sundemo have followed, with 2017 releases “Snow In Gothenburg,” “Bleed It Out” feat. NEA and “Lay It On Me” feat. Keiynan Lonsdale joining the album today.
That leaves a healthy seven new songs to comprise the 13-track Places We Don’t Know, and they’re nothing short of incredible. “Bara Du,” a slower release with non-credited, gripping vocals and a steady growth of energy throughout, kicks the album off on a high note. Standout songs like “Roots” feat. Amanda Fondell keep things light with a starkly unique, bouncy drop, while the many moving parts of tracks like “About You” take listeners down a deeper route. And with some of the only male vocals on the entire project, “The Voice Says” feat. Charlie Kim could be the most compelling release of all with a mellow, but still radiant, production style.
Altogether, each piece of Places We Don’t Know comes together flawlessly to form one cohesive and alluring whole. The album has a concept capturing the wonders of our imagination when thinking of places we don't know as Carl has shared a touching letter to fans going into detail of the album concept below. With artists like Kasbo pushing their boundaries, the only direction for electronic music to go is up. Check out the full project below and enjoy!
