For over a decade, the Canadian trio, Keys N Krates, have been stalwart contributors to the greater electronic music scene. While their initial entry point was punctuated by attention-grabbing samples and bone-quaking bass, that hasn’t stopped them from exploring a full spectrum of sound. Today, we see that exploration deliver KnK to the groovy side of the spectrum with their third studio album, IN:TENSION.
While this might feel like a departure for long-time KnK listeners, this truly is a return to their deepest roots. Sample flipping has been foundational to the Toronto-born trio’s sound from the beginning, an art form they saw perfected by house music legends like Armand Van Helden and Masters At Work.
This latest project finds trap drums replaced by crisp kits, and vocal hype replaced by ecstasy. Whether you’re diving into the disco of “Get Up” or getting en vogue with the Ciara-featured “Fantasy,” we’re positive you’ll be stepping right along with this new LP.
We love seeing artists break from expectations to explore new sounds. It serves as a reminder of the depth of talent and knowledge behind the artists we know and love. Stream Keys N Krates third studio album, IN:TENSION, below. Enjoy!
