Between a head-turning series of collaborations with Flume over the years, and her self-made audiovisual concert performed at the Sydney Opera House this June, rising producer KUČKA has proven herself as “one to watch” in the electronic community. Usually seen experimenting with more high-energy productions such as her last single, “Messed Up,” KUČKA gets personal and slows things down for her newest single, “Not There.”
KUČKA’s own vocals shine more than ever before on this intimate, hook-filled single. Bright keys and trap-inspired percussion fill the spaces between KUČKA’s delicate voice, enhancing the track’s atmospheric and emotional themes.
Here’s what KUČKA had to say about the track:
I was working on my computer one night and this repeating scene of rain on a skyscraper window came up. It seemed really lonely somehow, even though it looked so pretty. I played the synth part to match the vibe of that and had it looping for ages. The lyrics came later – I actually wrote them with my wife Dillon and they are a patchwork of both of our experiences.
