Leaving Laurel Dedicate Emotional Self-Titled Debut Album To The Memory Of Pierce Fulton

||, , , |

For Pierce and Gordon of Leaving Laurel, their music is a story of an old friendship that over many years, almost accidentally, blossomed into a musical collaboration. Gordon was one half of bass heavy duo Botnek, whilst Pierce found fame and toured the world with his solo project aka Pierce Fulton. Shockingly, Pierce passed away in April of this year after a tragic struggle with his mental health. Just before this horrible tragedy, the pair managed to finish their debut album, Leaving Laurel, which is out now via Anjunadeep.

It’s hard not to get emotional when listening to the 11-track opus from Gordon and Pierce. Every song is rich with emotion and densely packed with atmosphere. Gordon lends his own gentle vocals on tracks like “A Secret Place” and “Guardian Angels Watch Down On You.” The album slowly unravels and blossoms like a delicate flower between deep, ambient house offerings to more atmospheric, angelic moments.

Leaving Laurel is dedicated to Pierce’s memory and is a humbling reminder to check in on the ones you love because it’s easy to take things for granted. Gordon and Pierce’s brother and manager, Griff, want to let the world know that “it’s ok to not be ok” and to know you are not alone. Stream the full project below and enjoy!
