Lil Silva is an incredibly diverse, ever-changing artist. A producer whose talent knows no bounds, holding production and writing credits for artists like Adele and Mark Ronson, Silva’s solo project comes from the deepest part of his soul, and it shows. His latest offering and debut album, Yesterday Is Heavy, is a splendid showcase of the multiple styles and genres within which he flourishes.
Starting off strong with intro track “Another Sketch,” (which you can watch the music video for here) Lil Silva creates a spacious, laid-back atmosphere with a swung hip-hop groove and melodic pads. His lush vocals, layered to perfection, soar over the production with grace and soul. Among the eight stellar collaborations on the album, “To The Floor,” Silva’s track with BADBADNOTGOOD, stood out to us with its delicately compressed instrumentation and funk groove, which one simply cannot resist.
A magnificent display of his talents, the UK native has left a distinct imprint via his production, writing, and performances, on Yesterday Is Heavy. If you are a fan of electronic, house, soul, or funk, (or any genre really) this album will definitely hit you in your feels.
