Liquid Stranger Shows Off His Production Depth on New Downtempo EP ‘Unity’

||, |,

We typically associate WAKAAN label boss Liquid Stranger with hard-hitting, filthy bass concoctions. However, his latest EP, Unity, is quite different, although no less impressive. Unity comes to us via SSKWAN, the downtempo-oriented sibling label to WAKAAN, and fittingly shows us the full range of Liquid Stranger’s production skills.

Over the course of the five tracks on the EP, Liquid Stranger revisits the instrumental beats of his earliest work while also flexing the innovation of his current production style. “Smoke N Hope” sets the tone for the EP as a guitar-driven tune featuring vocals from reggae-leaning artist J.Lauryn. The rest of the EP follows suit, full of acoustic guitar chord progressions, ambient synth textures, and slow-burning bass lines.

All in all, Unity encompasses some of Liquid Stranger’s most provocative, emotional music to date. You can listen below. Enjoy!
