There are few people in the music industry who are as busy as Diplo. The EDM cornerstone and pop music extraordinaire seems to be always working on new collaborative projects, producing for others, or reinventing himself in some fashion. Today, however, is all about the singular artist, Diplo. The Florida-native has just released a new, self-titled album, Diplo.
If you don’t count his ambient project of 2020, this is his first full-length project as simply Diplo since his 2004 debut, Florida.
Of all the different sides of Diplo over the years, this current version is focused on house music. That’s perhaps why he released this project on his own house-focused label, Higher Ground. Diplo also invites some of the brightest vocal talents and boundary-pushing producers to join him on this project. Singers like Miguel, Leon Bridges, Aluna, and Kareen Lomax shine on this album, alongside Paul Woolford, Amtrac, Damian Lazarus, Seth Troxler, TSHA, and more.
From start to finish, this project, in its simplest form, is a great time.
