Rumor has it that there is still some unheard Mac Miller material floating around out there. We actually know there’s a ton that will never see the light of day, but a fully finished project seems to be kept under wraps.
This news comes from a recent interview with producer Theolonious Martin (conducted by DJBooth), where he tells a story of when prolific producer Madlib played out a Mac Miller collab at Pitchfork Music Festival. Theolonious apparently approached Madlib and asked if there was more, and Madlib responded with: “Oh yeah, there’s a whole album. Maclib.”
If this story is true, then Madlib (who’s produced for rappers like MF Doom, J Dilla, Kanye West, & more) could be sitting on some serious fire. There’s no indication that Madlib has plans on releasing the project, but I think we’re all in agreement that dropping a project like that would be huge.
Mac Miller previously linked up with Madlib on title track off the Freddie Gibbs x Madlib collab album, Pinata. Listen below.
We’re really hoping this one sees the light of day. Enjoy!
