Today, Maddy shares the final single before her third studio album, VITAL SIGNS, releases next month.
“Make You Feel” kicks off with an exciting, dynamic build-up, led by a crisp clap and pulsing synth warbles. Maddy slowly introduces new elements until the drop finally arrives at 0:51, blowing us away with a powerful chord stab, and catapulting into her signature funky bass stylings. “Make You Feel” is a carefree, high energy bass track, pushing the boundaries of what a typical “banger” is defined as, and carving out a soulful, electro-infused niche.
Maddy shared the inspiration behind her new single, commenting:
When I set out to write this record I really wanted to take it back to my roots. When I first started making music 13 years ago I didnt know much about music theory or production. I would go to record stores and dig for vinyl and chop out samples with my drum pad. I learned everythign I know from just making hip hop beats from vinyl. This track was one of the first songs I made when I embarked on writing this full record and I wanted to set a tone for the rest of it by making it hip hop forward and really combine all of my influences over the years – including those early days where it was strictly beats. The swag of how hard your head knocked was the only measure of goodness. This is my ode to hip hop. I hope y’all enjoy.
