Leave it to Manic Focus to deliver a heroic dose of funkified bass. The longtime TSIS fave proves once again why he’s one of the best in the game with a mammoth new single, “Back From The Future.”

Manic Focus’s discography provides all sorts of sounds. This latest tune adds a solid hit of crunch and punch to the mix. Patterned tones gain body and life as we descend into a neon-drenched tunnel of oscillating synths. Percussive pulses continue to stomp out the beat while melodic saws grind out a dizzying loop. All this becomes even more impressive when you learn Manic got this track started in 20 minutes:

I wrote the main idea in a hotel room before a show.  I needed a song to bridge a gap in my set, so I made a big crunchy beat in 20 min.  I played it that night and it went better than expected, so I elaborated on the idea and turned it into a full song with 2 drops.   I was imagining the energy of the crowd I was about to play for and putting that energy into a song.  The vocals say ‘Bring that s*** back’, and that s*** is the awesome energy the fans bring to shows.

This is the first time that Manic Focus has released an original track on one of our favorite experimental bass labels, WAKAAN. Stream the wild new single, “Back From The Future,” below. Enjoy!
