Leaning into his love of blues guitar and lifelong passion for live instrumentation, Marvel Years began writing the first of his two-part Voyage Ahead EP series at the beginning of COVID. With part one out in the world, Marvel Years begins to prepare for the release of Voyage Ahead, Pt. 2, with his highly impressive new single, “Shades On.“
An upbeat, funky twist on the traditional bass genre, “Shades On” features bright synth leads, sparkly vocal samples, and guitar riffs. The track finds a unique balance between glitchy, deep bass drops, and these more “light-hearted” elements, truly taking the listener on a musical journey of vast influences and creative production styles.
Marvel Years commented on the development of “Shades On,” adding:
Shades On’ is my version of audio storytelling. From the moment the intro hits, I wanted to grab the listener and have them ask themselves, ‘where will this go next?’. It was a creative journey from start to finish, and I’m so excited to release it and allow others to enjoy the ride with me.
