This past Wednesday, the duo of Matroda and Bleu Clair have returned to the iconic Insomniac Records with a new, absolute stellar house banger, “PWR.” This, the second collab between the two producers, follows their self-released track “Disco Tool.” Given the smashing success of their first joint effort (and man, is it a bop,) this “PWR” duo knew it was time for another banger.
Matroda and Bleu Clair start the track off with a funky, nostalgic vocal sample, crispy hats, and a tasty syncopated synth. The track builds to a groovy drop, which is accompanied by juddering bass lines that move the track forward flawlessly. A piano breakdown around the half-way point captures the listener’s attention with its change of pace. The producers finally bring back all of the elements one-by-one to create one final glorious release to conclude the track.
Here’s what Matroda had to say about the development of “PWR”and working with Bleu Clair :
The first time I met Bleu Clair in person was late 2021 during our Fall US tour… We decided to rent a studio in Los Angeles and that’s when the idea for “PWR” was created. The WIP clicked right away, the groovy buildup with a catchy vocal line and hard-hitting drop. We had a lot of fun working on it and can’t wait to drop this one.
