One of the first things that we see when Melanie Faye begins her performance for NPR‘s Tiny Desk (Home) Concerts is the poster of Jimi Hendrix. Jimi is a clear idol for the young talent, who often dons a headband in a similar fashion while shredding her electric guitar.
Melanie Faye is one of the most exciting new artists that we’ve had the pleasure of discovering recently. Although she only has a few tracks to her name thus far (including a Mac DeMarco collab), you can already tell that she’s destined for greatness. At the young age of 22, she handles her guitar with mastery and confidence usually seen by seasoned musical veterans.
This performance is actually the second time Melanie has graced NPR’s stage. Back in July of last year she was enlisted by Masego for his own Tiny Desk Concert, and although Masego did what he does best, many of the comments highlighted Melanie’s talent as well.
Melanie Faye is about to drop her self-titled debut EP next week on August 13. Stay tuned.
