Some of the best music comes from those who aren’t defined by one sound or genre, and we have a prime example here with Colorado up-and-comer Motifv. Combining elements of bass, jazz, hip-hop, and more, Motifv sculpts a masterpiece with his five-track EP Where The Sun Sets, out now via Philos Records.
The project opens like a gorgeous sunrise with mellow trumpets and funky distortion with “On My Way” before transferring into the chilled-out indie hip-hop “Elephants In The Park“. Another standout is “Higher“, a more whimsical out-of-this-world banger that is equal parts wompy and groovy.
Motifv says on the EP,
“’Where the Sun Sets’ marks a personally defining moment for Motifv, and captures the essence of evolution and intentionality I strive for in my music. More than just an EP, it’s a reflection of personal growth – a blend of vulnerability and the boldness to venture into new territories.”
Motifv will be releasing the sequel to this EP titled Behind The Moon on March 22nd, and will also be headlining in his home state when he takes over The Bluebird in Denver on March 1st. In the meantime stream Where The Sun Sets below and enjoy!
