Wow. MPH just released one of our favorite new albums of the year. The rising artist returns to AC Slater’s Night Bass imprint to share his immaculate sophomore album, Refraction. To say the 15-track escapade blew us away is an understatement.
MPH’s sampling style shapes the whole mood of the LP. His creative splicing of different vocal samples, syncopation of chords, and tasteful melodies make for a diverse, endlessly enjoyable album. We were especially impressed by track number seven, “My Mind,” which, in our minds, perfectly meshes commercial and underground dance production.
MPH shared his thoughts on the album, commenting:
Throughout you’ll see a variety of environments which I’ve captured on my phone and carefully picked to match with the energy of each track. For some of the more gritty bass tracks it’s quite dark and urban, meanwhile the softer UKG side of the album ties to rural landscapes/sunsets.
You can stream “Refraction” at the link below, out everywhere via Night Bass. Enjoy!
