NotLö, one of Denver’s most promising producers, is continuing her domination of the bass scene with a new song that’s so ridiculously heavy it caught the eye (and ears) of another Colorado based boss: CloZee. “Abysmal” is part of Emergence, a compilation album curated by CloZee via Gravitas Recordings, which showcases some gritty rhythms from rising stars, including an-en-nae and Fakear. While the record comes out February 26, we have the honor of premiering NotLö’s contribution early.
Here’s what she had to say about engineering the single:
This song happens to be my favorite song I have written to date, and for it to be featured on my favorite artist’s compilation is quite a magical and surreal feeling.
Listening to this track is a face-melting, teeth-gritting experience. It starts out with a dark and ominous intro and distorted grooves. There’s the deep and twisted rhythm we’ve come to love from NotLö, but the song also is also carried along by a spooky violin that adds a worldly element. The sounds all weave together to create a mesmerizing melody that shows absolutely no mercy.
NotLö will be virtually performing at Gravitas’ Emergence Fest on February 27 alongside CloZee, Megan Hamilton, Defunk, and more. RSVP for the party here.
