Phantogram Begin Next Chapter With Hazy Single “All A Mystery”

Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter’s 14 year journey as Phantogram has been a long winding road. From amassing over a billion streams to collaborating with the likes of Tom Morello and Big Boi the lifelong friends have been on a steady incline throughout their career and don’t plan on stopping. Today, the duo begin their next chapter with their brand new single “All A Mystery”, kicking off the summer in style.

“All A Mystery” is a melting pot of enchanting vocals, mind-bending guitar, hazy synths and a steady drum-machine driven beat. Musically the track is conquering and sounds victorious, but the lyrics are the opposite. Speaking on a desire to get back to a safe and healthy space mentally. The dichotomy between instrumentation and lyrics are strange and beautiful.

For the track, Phantogram also called on GRAMMY-award winning producer John Hill, who’s worked with the likes of Portugal. The Man, Florence + The Machine, and Cage The Elephant. On the track, Phantogram add,

“’All A Mystery’ was a line that we used to sing when we first started writing songs for Phantogram. We would sing it and harmonize it together while working in the barn turned recording studio. Back then, it was “all a mystery” to us how we came together to become a band, and 14 years later, we are bewildered that we have been doing this for so long. This song touches on love, life, death and loss. It digs into memories, and the wonder of existence. And it examines the push and pull of time on this planet, and being able to share the experience of everything all at once as a mere grain of sand on an endless beach.”

Phantogram are also set to head on a 27-date North American tour with Kings of Leon later this year. You can check out those tour dates here. Stream “All A Mystery” below and enjoy!
