Poldoore Blurs The Line Between Organic and Synthetic On Sixth Studio Album ‘Chroma Dream’

|||, ,

Belgian producer Poldoore (Thomas Schillebeeckx) has established himself over the past decade as one of the most talented beatmakers in contemporary music. Known for his analog-rich sound and ability to make instrumentals feel like expansive compositions with endless depth, Poldoore takes songs with the base of hip-hop and downtempo and creates cinematic soundscapes. Today via Philos Records, Poldoore delivers his sixth studio album, Chroma Dream, a 12-track journey through memory, mood and imagination.

Chroma Dream is an immersive experience. Its title is a nod to the chroma spectrum of both color and sound. Exploring the intensity of color through sound, and the intensity of sound through emotion within the music. This album does a spectacular job of reeling you in and forcing you to listen to the fine tuned details within each track. Whether it be following the boom bap beat, the lush melodies, or the intricate vocal sampling, all of it comes together seamlessly making each song uniquely intimate and enjoyable.

The fourth track on the album, “Tears On My Face,” is one track which showcases all of those qualities. One of the lead singles “Heaven Sent” follows with possibly the best vocal chops on the album and serves as one of the groovier numbers as well. The title track “Chroma Dream” lives up to its responsibility as the title track. Poldoore’s layered production on this track makes a bed of beat and melody that you can lay in like a cloud and serve as an example of the blurred line between organic and synthetic that make Poldoore so unique and fresh. If you do anything this weekend, listen to this album top to bottom over a cup of coffee, or on a drive, or anywhere you can just sit back and vibe.
