There is a new major music festival coming to San Francisco. It’s called Portola, and they’ve just unveiled their plans to bring an eclectic, high-caliber selection of electronic music, alt-pop, and more to the Bay this fall.
Portola will take place over two days, September 24–25, with Flume and The Chemical Brothers headlining respective days. The name of the festival derives from its location, as the music will be seated directly on the San Francisco Bay via Pier 80.
This is one hell of a lineup for the very first year of a festival. Joining Flume on day one include artists like Jamie xx, Kaytranada, Fred again.., Caribou, BICEP, The Avalanches, and PinkPantheress. On day two, championed by The Chemical Brothers, you can catch James Blake, Peggy Gou, Four Tet b2b Floating Points, SG Lewis… the list goes on.
Portola is the result of a collaboration between proven festival promoters GoldenVoice (Coachella, Camp Flag Gnaw, Second Sky) and Non Plus Ultra, who specialize in finding “unique, often iconic venues.”
