It’s time for another premiere here at TSIS! Today’s track comes from rising artist Calcou, a multi-instrumentalist and composer from Berlin, Germany. His track, “Time,” marks the first single off his upcoming album, Murmation, set for release early next month.
Starting with a slow-build filled with saturated synths, “Time” explodes into its first drop, led by a bouncy bass and syncopated vocal chops. Calcou takes us back down into a laid-back interlude, this time catapulting into an even more dynamic, delightfully arpeggio-filled final drop. After hearing the tasteful production choices on this track (specifically the synths), we are extremely excited to listen to the rest of the album when it drops.
Calcou shared the meaning behind “Time”:
‘Time’ is about how it feels to be constantly chased. By deadlines and appointments, but also by little things like constant availability. Sensory overload has become a kind of permanent state, with opportunities and answers everywhere. We wrote this text in collaboration with AI. Everything happens incredibly fast, AI doesn’t need a break. I asked myself what place humans will have in this system.
