It’s a well-known fact that building a career in the music industry can be a difficult undertaking. The vulnerability it requires, extensive periods away from home, and bouts of self doubt it induces are enough to halt even the most successful artists out there. Electronic powerhouse, Elohim, found herself facing these exact challenges midway through the process of writing her new album, Power of Panic. Pushing through a terribly tough battle, both mentally and physically, she can now proudly reveal a dynamic body of work that embodies the fight she has won.
The introspective nature of Power of Panic is revealed through Elohim’s vulnerable lyrics, as well as highly emotive production. Soft interludes intersperse hard-hitting, bass-heavy bangers, contrasting the fight and struggle with moments of reflection. Elohim’s production is astounding, with highlights including the breakbeat-infused “Crazy” and saturated heater “Breath.”
Elohim shared this vulnerable anecdote about the album:
I still can’t help but wonder what this would all be like in a parallel universe where I’ve conquered my struggles, where I’m on stage again performing for thousands. That’s the dream and I promise you I will never give up on that. The reality is so much more complicated, broken, and yet still beautiful. Power of Panic is yours: no stage, no lights, and that has to be enough for now.
