PREMIERE | Emancipator & 9 Theory Deliver Bright Downtempo Single “Chameleon” Off New EP

Today we have something very exciting for you all. We last heard Emancipator on his incredible album Baralku, and now he’s back with the first taste off his forthcoming collaborative Cheeba Gold EP alongside 9 Theory. We have the pleasure of premiering “Chameleon” as the first taste of Emancipator and 9 Theory’s new EP due March 22 via Emancipator’s Loci Records.

“The title might have something to do with the idea of shapeshifting surface forms as well as a nod to that magnificently mysterious old world lizard. Gabe and I share a lot of musical common ground in the realm of instrumental beats. We have similar influences and intuition so it was easy to develop the sound.” – Emancipator

“Somehow while all three sections sound nothing like each other, they all fit together as one song perfectly. This kind of became a theme of the EP, having 2-3 completely different sections with the same track.” – 9 Theory

The EP’s title actually got its name from a brand of hot sauce and came together in just four days time, showing off the impressive chemistry between both artists. This lead single is actually a three-part journey as it unfolds across three chapters based in the same groove. They effortlessly blend elements of downtempo, jazz, hip-hop, electronic production and more in the hypnotic new song that has us excited for the full project. Be sure to catch both artists on the Loci Records showcase tour, see dates below. Enjoy!
