Aussie-based HWLS has been one of the most compelling producers in electronic trap music ever since his emergence back in 2014. The massive drum rhythms and wall-shaking sub-bass kept us at the edge of our seats. Today we’re stoked to premiere his first release of 2021, and it comes via a new remix for UZ‘s track, “Monster.”
HWLS wanted to get up in our faces with this one, and he’s done exactly that with this new remix. The drums hit harder than anything we’ve heard in a while, making this one the perfect one to rinse on a big sound system. The clangy synths add a lot of dissonance to the track, while the heavy drums near the end resolve it, bringing everything back together with one massive payoff.
This remix comes off of UZ’s forthcoming remix album for his final ever release. The full remix LP is due out this Friday, October 29.
Here’s what HWLS had to say about the approach to this remix:
I just wanted to create a big drum belter to compliment the original synths, bit of space between the hits and for it to blow loud on a big system, UZ has been a Don within the trap scene since it’s origin so i wanted to have a bit of fun with it and keep it quite percussive and in your face.
