[PREMIERE] Laidback Luke And A-Trak’s 2008 Original “Shake It Down” Gets A Refreshing Rework From Tommie Sunshine and SLATIN

Nearly a decade after its initial release, Laidback Luke and A-Trak’s 2008 single “Shake It Down” has received a stellar rework! The original version of this track blended elements of both electro house and techno, an innovative sound that caught plenty of attention at the time. Today we’re happy to be premiering Tommie Sunshine and SLATIN’s remix of the track.

For longtime fans of TSIS, Tommie Sunshine is a familiar name. We featured his extensive remix work often throughout 2013 and 2014, including his take on Disclosure’s “White Noise,” Yeah Yeah Yeahs’s “Maps” and a few others. For this remix he teamed up with SLATIN, a rising bass house producer based in Madrid. The two have come together for various remixes in the past, with their respective sounds complimenting each other quite well.

Tommie Sunshine and SLATIN refer to this release as a “refresh,” a fitting name for their spin on “Shake It Down”. The two producers preserve the roots of the track, keeping the familiar pounding basslines and deep vocal samples intact. They up the energy with various builds throughout, adding layer upon layer of primal basslines, both skittering and upbeat synths, and much more to create a gripping, modern production fitting for 2017. Check it out below and enjoy!
