Mcbaise (the musical alias of visual artist mcbess) is a London-based illustrator and artist known for his unique blend of vintage yacht rock, French pop, and vaporwave-tinged psychedelia. Today, he’s making his TSIS debut with “Alice,” a laid-back, synth-soaked new single, out now via Dirty Melody Records.
Built around a buttery bass loop that had been sitting in the vault for nearly three years, “Alice” leans into Mcbaise’s signature style of breezy guitars, vaporwavy synths, and a slow-burning rhythm that drips with nostalgia. “It’s called Alice after Alice in Wonderland because I wanted it to feel like a journey,” Mcbaise says. “Just… with fewer tea parties.”
As always, Mcbaise brings a full visual universe with him. The new single arrives alongside an animated video (also directed by Mcbaise), a clothing capsule from The Dudes, and a limited edition vinyl toy designed in collaboration with 3D artist Vincent Techer.
