Zeds Dead‘s single “Alive” was one our our top summer anthems. On Friday they’ll drop a stacked remix EP for the track, but today we can give you an exclusive sneak peek of it with Montreal-based producer Suray Sertin‘s official remix.
The original Zeds Dead version of “Alive” is a dark house anthem. On his remix, Sertin adds his signature soulful touch. He keeps the vocal stems perfectly preserved, letting MKLA’s captivating voice shine through. Swells of piano provide the foundation for the track, while a tropical-sounding synth bounces along the top layer on the chorus. The energy of the track never falters, even on the bridge when Sertin slows things down so that he can build back to a powerful and emotional drop, carrying us out on a high note.
Sertin described his goal for the remix as so:
I really wanted to create something purely “feel-good” without compromising that raw, dark emotion of the original record. It’s one of those tracks that basically wrote itself once the main idea was figured out.
If this remix isn’t enough to satiate your craving for Zeds Dead, they also recently dropped the official music video for “Alive.” You can check out Suray Sertin’s remix using the link below. Enjoy!
