Pusha T Delivers Impressive Kanye-Produced Album ‘DAYTONA’: Hip-Hop

||

After many delays and rewrites, the new album from rapper Pusha T is finally here. His third studio album Daytona is produced in its entirety by Kanye West, and features verses from Kanye and Rick Ross.

The Virginia Beach rapper chooses to emphasize quality over quantity on his new project, with only seven songs clocking in at total of 22 minutes. The album is the first of several in the coming weeks entirely produced by Kanye West, who experiments here combining latin guitars with trap hi-hats, turning up the bass, and continuing to try new things with samples. Album standout "Come Back Baby" features a soul sample juxtaposed with one of the hardest basslines of the year; the perfect backdrop for Pusha's 80's drug-dealer villain persona. His evil delivery and confidence in his lines give him an unmatchable flow on every track.

It was reported that Kanye West paid $85k to use the photo of Whitney Houston's bathroom for the cover of Daytona, a name which references a Rolex watch to represent the luxury of time Pusha T has. These lavish details represent what Pusha gives us with this album: a man in his prime confidently rapping about money and drugs over luxurious beats.
