What would you get if you crossed Glass Animals with slenderbodies, and a touch of MGMT?
The result would be Rest For The Wicked, a brand new project from Australians Ben Townsend (formerly known as Ivan Ooze) and producer Tasker.
Fans might recognize Townsend’s alias from a collaboration with Crooked Colours, or as support on Wu-Tang tours. Similarly, Tasker has written for Alison Wonderland and even provided an official remix for Hayden James.
The duo just released their debut single “Bones”, out via EMI Music Australia/Universal.
“Bones” is a bittersweet indie track. Sweet on the surface, with its guitar strumming and downtempo synth melodies, Townsend’s lyrics tell a more sinister story.
“Bones’ was written when I was in an excruciatingly hollow state of depression. The song is about my feelings of being scared to cross over to the other side, the anxieties and unknowingness of death… I’m much better now. I hope this song brings you comfort when you feel alone. Time will mend.
Rest For the Wicked also released a neon-tinted music video to accompany the track. You can check of their impressive first offering using the link below. Enjoy!
