RL Grime made his long-awaited return to the studio earlier this year and has since been on a tear of releases. He’s been hinting at a new concept for his upcoming album and we’re thrilled to say that the wait is finally over. Today, the Sable Valley boss is ready to unveil his groundbreaking new album PLAY.
We’ve already learned that RL Grime intended to break up the album into three parts: APEX, GRID, & RUSH. Now, we get to hear the concept in its entirety and it’s like nothing we’ve ever experienced before. APEX highlights RL Grime’s quintessential adrenaline-fueled sound and is filled with epic bangers from beginning to end.
GRID is the collaboration-rich portion of the project that features epic hooks and melodies, evoking feelings of euphoria and bliss. Joining RL Grime here are Montell2099, 1nonly, Reo Cragun, Bea Miller, 070 Shake, Baauer, and Sublab.
RUSH is RL Grime’s most experimental sound to-date. Here, he draws on everything from deep house, future breaks, lofi, glitch, and techno for a more introspective, free-flowing approach to dance music.
PLAY is by far and none RL Grime’s most ambitious project to-date and an incredible display of versatility and adaptability that very few artists are capable of achieving. His accompanying PLAY Live tour is set to begin next month. Click here for more dates and info. You can stream PLAY below. Enjoy!
