Acclaimed Norwegian duo Röyksopp, Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland, have grabbed the hearts of electronic music fans around the world since 1998. Known for their elaborate live performance and warm, downbeat electronica sound the duo has stood the test of time. Today they’ve just delivered their 10th studio album, True Electric. Standing at 19 tracks and consisting of newly-reworked versions of fan favorites from across their entire catalog, True Electric is inspired by their 2023 tour of the same name and meant to capture the essence of their live shows.

True Electric is such a fun listen. On streaming platforms the album has two sides, one mixed version and one standard. Depending on how you want to digest the music you can listen to either, and both are phenomenal. Röyksopp opened the door for the album with the release of their 2005 classic “What Else Is There?” with Fever Ray. The True Electric version takes the originally melancholic track and turns it into a pulsating and irresistible dance track. “What Else Is There?” also comes with a visualizer featuring footage from their 2023 show in Athens.

Other standouts include a reworked version of their 2022 hit “Impossible” with Alison Goldfrapp with the True Electric version being a bit more unrelenting, as well as their 2014 collaboration with RobynDo It Again,” where the True Electric version being much more clubby and intricate.

Röyksopp have also just announced nine new dates on their U.S. DJ tour, including stops in Brooklyn at Elsewhere May 17 and The Fonda Theater in LA May 23.
