RÜFÜS DU SOL a bunch of amazing songs under their belt at this point. However, none of them are quite like “Innerbloom”, the epic outro track to their album, Bloom, that clocks in just shy of ten minutes. Australian tastemakers triple j hosted the TSIS favorite trio for an interview about how “Innerbloom” came to be.
They tell the story of how they started working on the song and said they decided to “not have an end point to this song. Let’s see it through and picture ourselves being in the desert listening to this as the sun comes up.” They go on to say they wanted to capture a “warm fuzzy feeling like a VHS” using various sonic elements including a match striking sample to create the crackle you hear. Anyone who listens to the song can feel it’s raw emotion that creates a powerful sense of nostalgia. Check out the full interview below where they break down the song’s creation touching on multiple elements of the track. Enjoy!
