SAINt JHN’s debut album is here and we’re about to have it on repeat for a minute. The rising rapper has been someone we’ve been stoked about since we first heard him and he just made a statement on Collection One.
Previously releases singles “Reflex,” “Roses,” “3 Below,” and “I Heard You Got Too Litt Last Night” had SAINt JHN’s debut near the top of our list of anticipated albums… and he did not disappoint. His songwriting is incredible from start to finish and it’s hard to say whats better between his melodies and flows or his lyrics. He has a way of writing songs that just get stuck in your head indefinitely, and that’s the case for most songs, if not all, on this project. He has a lone feature on the first track but holds down the rest of the project on his own and kills it.
Each song is filled with clever metaphors and ridiculously catchy hooks, not to mention the incredible production throughout. This feat isn't really surprising as he’s worked as a songwriter with the likes of Usher, Jidenna and Joey Bada$$ in the past. Here he showcases a high level of versatility going IN over hard hitting beats showing his savage side while also shining on chill, melodic songs displaying a more passionate side. He even has a 80’s-inspired song “Selfish” that sounds like it could’ve been a Phil Collins collab or something, in a good way.
Collection One has endless swagger. SAINt JHN is the self-proclaimed Ghetto Lenny Kravitz and for good reason as this guy is a rockstar, just look at his Insta. It’s clear that SAINt JHN has something special after hearing this project so be sure to listen it in full and don’t sleep on this talented artist. Enjoy!
