Craving connection and shared experiences are a part of the human experience. As great as making time for yourself and your self care is, we equally need time with our friends, families and the outside world. Music is one of the most special ways for us to both get lost and unite. Today, two extremely talented producer/DJs in Sebastian Davidson and TENEM deliver their joint album Lament with human connection at the core of its theme. Standing at nine-tracks and arriving via the great Emancipator’s label Loci Records, Lament is a deeply moving and stunning album.
As a notable figure at one of EDM’s premier labels Armada, as well as being signed to Loci, Sebastian Davidson is a master of downtempo and atmospheric dance music. Infusing global sounds while always keeping true to his core. TENEM, formerly Cir:cle, is a veteran of the scene of 13 years and a well established presence in electronic music, embarking on this new chapter with this very album.
Lament is one of the easiest listens so far this year. Refined, transcendent, and delicate. Each track composed with weaving melodies and rhythms making it extremely calming and refreshing. “Phantoms” kicks off the project with those very weaving elements at a premium, and celebrates unity and the connection between individuals on the dancefloor.
The title track “Lament” features label head Emancipator himself, and carries a higher wave of energy as a lush and immersive number exploring love’s complexities. “Mountain Battles” comes near the end of the project and serves as a comedown track, whose organic percussion and candid melody at a slowed down tempo makes for a tranquil listening experience.
In an era of uncertainty and isolation, Lament provides a source of comfort and compassion through music. Stream Lament below and enjoy!
