The last year has been good to fans of SG Lewis, the talented UK producer that has been dropping music nonstop for his three-part album that includes, Dusk, Dark, and Dawn. We’re getting close to the release of the final part, Dawn, which is shaping up to be a moody, emotive collection of tracks. The first single off of Dawn was the smooth single “Throwaway” with singer-songwriter Clairo, which SG has followed up with the dark energy of “Flames” ft. Ruel.
The track immediately establishes a dark, simmering mood with a rumbling bass line setting the foundation for Ruel’s lush vocals. The pre-chorus provides a brief ray of unrestrained positivity before the song snaps back to a vivid mix of driving synths and vocal chops. This is a far cry from the sunset-drenched tunes of Dusk, or the bouncing dancefloor synths on Dark, and we love that SG Lewis nails it all the same. Enjoy!
