Skrillex announced on social media today that he is no longer performing at two upcoming music festivals, Movement and Sunset Music Festival. He posted a note that explained his reasoning for doing so:
Over the past few months I’ve been working very hard on finishing my albums and haven’t had enough time to prepare for the upcoming shows.
I’m truly sorry but I had to pull out of Detroit Movement and Tampa Sunset Music Festivals.
I hope you can all understand that this was a very difficult decision for me to make but I’ll be back soon with the show that you all deserve.
While this is obviously bad news for folks who were planning on seeing him at these festivals, it does mean that Skrillex is focused on finishing his albums. And yes, that does read albums—plural. The last solo studio album that Skrillex released was Recess, almost a decade ago in 2013.
We’ll be keeping a very close eye on Skrillex to see if he has anything coming soon.
