The day is finally upon us! Having endured all the rumors, the speculation, the shitty 360p YouTube upload’s and more, the current face of the electronic music community known globally as Skrillex garnished the full attention of the world by streaming his entire debut artists album Recess being released through his very own record label OWSLA on March 18th. The Grammy winning success of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites has paved the way for Skrillex to take the next step in the creative process with Recess coming after months in the studio crunching out music and working with some top notch producers.

The first single “All Is Fair In Love and Brostep” featuring the Ragga Twins is the finished version of his unreleased “This Much Power (DJ Tool Untitled)” track streamed in his BBC1 Essential Mix. “Recess” is the most recent track to surface and features legendary hip-hop radio personality Fatman Scoop and Kill The Noise. Expanding to incorporate a fresh face in hip-hop, “Coast Is Clear” features Chicago lyricist Chance The Rapper acid rapping over an experimental future bass / soul beat co-produced by Chance’s band Social Experiment.

The explosive nature of “Dirty Vibe” and “Ragga Bomb” are reminiscent of Skrillex’s substep roots, both packing punchy basslines and with the latter showcasing a second collaboration with the Ragga Twins. The deep house and UK garage/bass mentality of “F–k That” is a refreshing change up of styles. The dubstep ballad “Ease My Mind” brings extra smooth spin thanks to Malin Dahlström vocal addition. Due to the high level of creativity and level of production on all 11 tracks, we wouldn’t be surprised if Skrillex lands himself a few Grammy Nominations for Recess in 2015. Purchase Recess on digital download now before the March 18th release date and catch Skrillex live on his headlining North American Mothership Tour this summer! Enjoy
