Smoakland are back with their fourth full-length album Heavy Hitterz and I can say with certainty that the boys released some major heaters here. Featuring eight tracks, it very much pays tribute to the golden era of early 2010s dubstep while leaning much more on the power / intensity side of the genre.
The album kicks off strong. “100 Dolla Bill,” featuring Big Gigantic and Silk Young, blends excellent basslines with catchy vocals. A personal favorite “Attitude” shows off a truly classic bass style – dark, heavy and unforgettable. Other highlights include the high-octane “Mad Ting” and absolute epic finale “Get It“.
Smoakland always keep the mood fun and light, showing why bass music remains a vibrant and exciting scene that people want to cling to and tune out the negative from the real world. In short, Heavy Hitterz is exactly what bass music fans want and need right now.
