With all the new music released today, we can’t let this one get lost in the noise. Sofi Tukker‘s highly anticipated third album BREAD (an acronym for Be Really Energetic And Dance) is finally here.
In case the title didn’t make it obvious, this album is intended to make you dance. Between leading single “Throw Some Ass” and new track “Goddess In Disguise” (featuring MC Bola), you can’t help but swap your hips while listening to this. And while this album is always both joyful and unapologetically horny, it gets surprisingly sentimental at times too, like the wistful but electrifying “Perfect Someone.” Another standout track is “Hey Homie,” with its drum & bass beat and bossa nova rhythm.
The dynamic duo’s signature fusion of tropical textures with vivid guitar riffs is at its best here (see “Woof” for a truly addicting guitar lick). But while their sound has always had a worldly influence, this project feels the most distinctly Brazilian. Filled with vivid Portuguese lyrics, twerk-inducing baile phonk percussion, and colorful melodies, this album feels like a love letter to the culture that both Sophie and Tucker spent the last few years immersed in.
BREAD is a must listen. Check it out below and enjoy!
