RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Solace was undoubtedly one of the best electronic albums of 2018. In fact, we rated it number one on our own end of the year list. It’s been nearly a year since its official release, and the time has come for RÜFÜS to unload the remixes.
The Australian trio cut no corners when enlisting artists for Solace Remixed. This album features some amazing talent such as Hot Since 82, Cassian, Icarus, Durante and more, but our favorite comes from none other than DIRTYBIRD mainstay Justin Martin.
J-Mart’s remix of “Lost In My Mind” starts by setting a wide open sonic landscape, just high-hats and a bass line. Just be the sheer space that he’s creating here, you can tell he’s going to fill it with a lot of sound, and he does just that. This naughty tune drops into some thick, deep bass notes that are reminiscent of his earlier work (such as “Don’t Go”). From there it really takes off, going in places and reaching new heights.
