Spotify is the latest to hop in on the artificial intelligence craze happening right now. The music giant rolled out their newest feature this week, an AI-powered, personalized DJ that “knows you and your music taste so well that it can choose what to play for you.” The feature will create a personalized lineup of music that will also include commentary from a “stunningly realistic voice.”
Spotify DJ works by combining Spotify’s personalization technology, OpenAI technology, and an AI voice platform via Sonantic. The voice that you’ll hear talking about the music was sourced from Xavier “X” Jernigan, Spotify’s own Head of Cultural Partnerships, who previously served as one of the hosts for their morning show, The Get Up.
To give Spotify DJ a spin, head to your home page on the mobile app. From there, you can tap “play” on the DJ card. If you’re not digging the vibe, you can tap the DJ button in the bottom right to be taken to a different genre, artist, or mood.
