For years now LA-based artist Stephen has continued to impress us with each and every genre-pushing track he’s released. After taking a year off music in 2016 after the release of his debut album Sincerely, and recently coming off his 2019 EP it’s too much love to know my dear, today the phenom has returned with a new track “I Never Stay In Love“.
This latest offering perfectly exemplifies everything we’ve come to love about Stephen’s music. Coming as the first single off his forthcoming Sophomore album Akrasia, this fresh single follows the wonky, dark, emotional sound he delved into on his most recent EP, and we’re definitely on board with it.
Starting off with a gentle piano melody and some eerie reversed sound effects, Stephen’s delicate voice floats in, driving the track into a serene, melancholic intro verse. Masterfully juxtaposed by a quick switch into a crunchy, distorted synth and some booming percussion, “I Never Stay In Love” only serves to further solidify Stephen as one of the most prolific indie-electronic artists out there.
