Music creation is an outlet used for people to express how they are feeling in some of the most pure, cathartic ways possible. Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, better known as the awe-inspiring duo Sylvan Esso, have been making songs (for over eight years) that have touched audiences all over the world. However, it wasn’t until just now that they feel they have honestly found themselves in their music. Their newest single “Didn’t Care” marks the beginning of a new era for the dynamic duo, leading to their upcoming album, No Rules Sandy.
“Didn’t Care” blew us away with its wave of eloquent production, and delicate vocal performances. Built around a collection of impeccable vocal hooks and a simple beat, the duo allow their talents to shine by stripping the track down to only a few elements at a time. Meath expresses a freeing sentiment through powerful lyrics and tone, leaving the listener to contemplate their own thoughts as the song progresses.
Here’s what Sylvan Esso have to say about their upcoming album and single:
It feels like who we actually are. It just feels like us. We’re not trying to fit into the mold, just happily being our freak selves. I think that the ultimate effect of our last record and the pandemic has been the feeling of like, ‘Fuck that, I know what I want, and it’s now, or never’. So let’s get out there and do it.
