This is lofi at its finest, folks. Today we have the pleasure of sharing one of the smoothest releases we’ve heard all year. It comes in the form of The Field Tapes‘ latest love is a shadow EP, assisted by multi-instrumentalist, Ezzy.
This EP is an absolute treasure of a sound that The Field Tapes has unearthed. Its runtime is short at just about 15 minutes, but it doesn’t take long for you to get completely enveloped by his sound. The pristine production, which utilizes Ezzy’s instrumental talents, goes far beyond simple beat-making. Each track is like opening a door to a new thought or feeling.
The Field Tapes (real name Kyle McEvoy) isn’t just a brilliant producer, but has been a leader in the flourishing lofi scene. His knack for what sounds good has been honed to a point through his A&R work with the popular YouTube channel Chillhop Music (3.3 million subscribers).
If you’re vibing to this new body of work from The Field Tapes as much as us, we recommend checking out his previous LP, Loving Someone You Lost, which also features Ezzy. In fact, according to a press release, love is a shadow is meant as a “thematic companion” to the album.
