ThunderCat & Flying Lotus Announce New 6 Song EP And Share First Song

||, , |

LA bassist extraordinaire Thundercat hasn’t released music since his 2013 album Apocalypse, but has stayed busy collaborating on some of the best recent albums with Flying Lotus’ You’re Dead, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, and Kamasi Washington’s critically acclaimed jazz album The Epic.

Now this trendsetting bassist, vocalist, and producer has announced a new mini album to be released Monday 6/22 via Flylo’s Brainfeeder label. This surprising announcement brought us a single titled “Them Changes,” which Thundercat brings an incredibly smooth sound with his whispy vocals and elusive basslines while Flylo brings some of his signature style alongside Jazz sax player Kamasi Washington to make for a groovy, funky tune that has us very excited to hear the full project. This 6 track mini album is titled The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam and includes Flying Lotus co-produced tracks on half the project while legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock joins on “The Lone Wolf and Cub.” Stay tuned for the entire project and enjoy!
