After releasing what he called “a record I had never imagined I would write, nor one I would want to again,” influential artist and producer, Tourist, has opened his heart and mind to the rework of four songs from his critically acclaimed album, Inside Out. Enlisting the talents of Sofia Kourtesis, Waleed, Yu Su, and T Dog (Tourist alias), the artist’s LP is reimagined on Inside Out (Reworks).
Each uniquely interpreting the album’s original tracks, remixers Sofia Kourtesis, Waleed, and Yu Su find their voice via dynamic production and eclectic stylistic choices. Kourtesis shines on her remix of the album’s lead single, “Your Love,” creating a memorable rework most notably through additional percussive nuggets. Waleed picks up the pace for his take on “Avalanche,” bringing a drum & bass twist to the tune we have come to love. Yu Su brings “A Dedication” to an intimate, bass-driven form, diversifying the remix EP with its darker tone/style. Finally, Tourist himself takes a stab at remixing “With You” under the comical alias, T Dog. The artist spins the track into a club-ready dance tune, contrasting the chilled-out original with new drums and a flipped groove.
Tourist commented on the reworks, adding:
It was wonderful hearing others interpret ‘Inside Out.’ Sofia, Yu-Su and Waleed are some of my favourite artists and it was a real privilege for them to remix my music. I love what they came up with. Also, there’s nothing like remixing yourself – I was thoughtful and didn’t change myself too much.
