Freeing, spacious, ethereal work is something that UK-based producer Tourist started with since his initial release in 2010 under his original moniker Little Loud. He made his mark with chillwave inspired remixes of indie artists that ranged from aggressive, glitchy acts like HEALTH, to more downtempo producers like Ariel Pink, and then co-producing Sam Smith’s 2015 Grammy winner “Stay With Me.”
With his newest release “Last”—a collaboration with Pennsylvania-based producer The Range, the duo bucks the status quo, however. And it’s his first release since last year.
Versatility is one of Tourist’s strongest points, and along with The Range’s help on this one, they really test their boundaries. Incorporated are some of the synthesized melodies that have catalyzed some of Tourist’s hallmark tracks since 2013, and there is also brief but emphatic vocal sample mixed in which makes this track fit for any mood that you might be trying to set.
