Tove Lo Announces New Album ‘Dirt Femme’ & Drops New Slow-Burning Single “True Romance”

Tove Lo has been at the forefront of the alt-pop music scene for almost a decade, but she’s still going strong. The Swedish singer just announced her fifth studio album Dirt Femme will be released in October. It features production from TSIS faves SG Lewis and Channel Tres. In addition to the album announcement, she also coupled it with the release of a brand new single “True Romance.”

While a lot of Tove Lo’s most popular songs feature fun, upbeat production, she goes in a different direction on “True Romance.” The accompanying music is pretty understated here, with a simmering synth pulsing slowly in the background. The main focus is Tove Lo’s truly stunning vocal performance. Given her penchant for fun tongue-in-cheek club hits like “Disco Tits” or “Pressure” with Martin Garrix, it can be easy to overlook her talent as a songwriter, but Tove Lo forces us to remember that here. The lyrics talk about wanting to resist a love, but ultimately giving in to the temptation of it. The emotion in her voice is palpable, as she alternates between a falsetto and a strong belt.

Tove Lo really demonstrates her versatility as an artist here. While her new album is sure to have more of the dance tracks we love, “True Romance” is a nice break. Make sure to check it out below. Enjoy!
